Win2020 Hospital Lottery Announces Early Bird Winner

Jen Dlugosz of Almonte is $2020 richer today because her ticket number 107051 was drawn at the Almonte General Hospital. Dlugosz’s ticket is one of 7,426 that have been sold since the Win2020 Hospital Lottery launched on May 1 with the goal of raising $200,000 to be shared between the Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation and the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Jen Dlugosz is still eligible for the 2nd early bird draw for $2020 which will take place Friday, June 19 at the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital and the grand prize draw on July 9 for a 2020 convertible Camaro donated by Bean Cars. Win2020 is offering 10,845 tickets in total.

Dlugosz said, “We bought tickets to support our hospital because we’re frequent flyers to the Emergency with our children, all of whom where born at AGH.”

“We are thrilled with how the Lottery is going so far,” said April Bean, General Manager, Bean Cars. By donating a 2020 Camaro, we hoped we could turn that $50,000 car into $200,000 for our two hospitals and it looks like we’re well on the way to doing that. Health care has never been so important.”

Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation and Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation launched the Win2020 Hospital Lottery on May 1 offering supporters a chance to win a 2020 convertible Camaro donated by Bean Chevrolet Buick GMC Corvette. Tickets are $25 for one or $100 for five and are only available online at www.win2020.ca. Net proceeds from the lottery will be used to purchase new or replacement equipment at the two local hospitals and Fairview Manor.

“We cannot thank Keith, April and Bean Cars enough for their generous support of high quality health care close to home,” said Mary Wilson Trider, President and CEO of both hospitals and Fairview Manor. Community support provides the funds each hospital has to purchase new and replacement patient and resident care equipment. Having hospitals and a long- term care home that are well resourced is always important, and seems even more critical when our communities are counting on us for care in uncertain times. Community members who buy tickets will help ensure that our physicians and staff continue to have the right tools with which to care for our patients and residents.”

The Win2020 Hospital Lottery is licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (License Number 11950). All net proceeds will be shared equally between the two foundations.

Local businesses donate to ensure safe transportation for Almonte General Hospital patients.

Several weeks ago, three young businessmen that call Almonte home learned that the Almonte General Hospital urgently needed a transport ventilator because of the pandemic; it was all hands on deck to raise the $23,000 price tag.

Seth Richards, President of Westview Projects, along with Cedar Nisbet and Brad Doran-Veevers quickly organized the effort by approaching several of their colleagues and suppliers. Once they heard that the Hospital didn’t have a transport ventilator, and that doctors felt they needed one to keep patients safe during the pandemic, donations began to flow.

The companies that responded so generously along with Westview Projects are: KEV TEC Electric, S&R Mechanical, Site Preparation Limited, TL Mechanical, Cleland Jardine Engineering, MacEwen Fuels, and Geofirma Engineering.

There are so many people that will breathe easier thanks to this corporate generosity. Seth wrote, “All of us are wishing everyone at the hospital an abundance of strength, patience and good health as they face the challenges caused by the pandemic.”
Thank you to all eight of these businesses, your generosity is so appreciated.

Thank you for the difference you are making in the community Westview Projects and to Cleland Jardine Engineering Ltd., MacEwen (Kemptville), Geofirma Engineering Ltd., #KevTecElectric#SRMechanical#SitePreparationLimited #TLMechanical

How You Can Help

Now, more than ever before, the Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor need your support.

We want to thank our past donators to the Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation. Your support has allowed the Hospital and Manor to purchase vital pieces of clinical equipment like special lifts, surgical tools, operating room lights, specialized mattresses and beds, plus our new ultrasound and X-ray machines. Most people are not aware that the Hospital and Manor count 100% on support from people like you to purchase replacement or new equipment.  Even before the Coronavirus-19 pandemic hit, IV pumps, cardiac and vital signs monitors and additional specialized mattresses had been identified as this year’s urgent clinical priorities to support the patients and residents that count on the Hospital and Manor throughout the year As a result of the ongoing Pandemic, it’s even more important for the Hospital and Manor to acquire this equipment. In order to make that commitment, we need your help.

If you are asking yourself:

‘How can I help during this difficult time?

What can I do to show my support for our incredible front-line workers?’
