When asked how many of her grandchildren were born at the Almonte General Hospital, Joanne Beaton laughs and answers proudly “Just all of them!” That’s in a large part why she and husband Ken, who have lived in Almonte since 1984, were ready to ‘put themselves in the picture’ after touring the new diagnostic imaging equipment at the Hospital earlier this year.
Although both of them have had a few experiences with the hospital, Ken as recently as a few weeks ago after a hockey injury, it is really for their children and grandchildren that they believe quality health care close to home is so important.
“I’ve always been so impressed with how well we’ve been treated at the Hospital,” said Joanne. “Knowing that my children and grandchildren have access to this hospital means a lot to Ken and me. And we also know that we can play a role in ensuring that the hospital and manor have new, up-to-date equipment.”
As real estate agents working in the area, Joanne has also seen how the Almonte General Hospital plays an important role in the local economy too. “With buyers over the age of 50, nearby quality healthcare is a huge concern,” said Joanne. “I’m glad I can speak with confidence about how good our hospital, staff and doctors are. It makes relocating to Mississippi Mills a sensible decision for many of my clients.”
The Beatons have made a four year pledge to the Diagnostic Imaging Campaign.
