The Almonte General Hospital / Fairview Manor Foundation has wrapped up the “Your healthcare close to home” seasonal appeal on Feb., 1, 2016 and the grand total is in. – $97,000 was raised to purchase new and replacement equipment for the Hospital and Manor.
“This is our most successful seasonal appeal ever,” said a pleased and appreciative Mary Wilson Trider, AGH President and CEO. “The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care provides funding for our operating costs but not equipment. Financial support from our community is essential if we are going to have modern, up-to-date facilities. On behalf of the patients and residents who benefit from the generosity of our loyal donors, the Hospital board members, physicians and staff join me in saying 97,000 thank yous for your generosity.”
“We owe a big debt of gratitude to the Ian Keith Taylor General Trust and the Almonte Civitan Club,” said AGH-FVM Foundation Managing Director Al Roberts. “By offering to match donations, they really helped inspire donors to participate in this campaign.”
Several new pieces of equipment have begun arriving at the Hospital including a new bladder scanner, a blood/fluid warmer and several ceiling lifts. Other items such as new beds and mattresses for various locations throughout the hospital, sleeper chairs, IV poles and pumps, and two new ultrasounds for the physiotherapy department are all still to be ordered.
“Our members were very happy to help support this campaign,” said Alice Puddington, President of the Almonte Civitan Club. “Having safe, quality healthcare close to home is never something we can ever take for granted. “
