Gretta Bradley was presented with an Angel Pin by Joy Delahunt, a former AGH-FVM Foundation Board member and volunteer, during the 3rd annual Paddle for Almonte General Hospital. Gretta has been a longstanding volunteer with the Hospital and has been helping to lead the organizing committee of the event for the past three years.

The Paddle for Almonte General Hospital event has grown into an enjoyable and successful fundraising event for the entire family with all proceeds going to the Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation.  The success of this event would not be possible without the hard work, commitment and leadership provided by Gretta and her team of volunteers.

Al Roberts, Managing Director of the AGH-FVM Foundation commented that Angel pins are awarded to individuals who have gone “above and beyond the call of duty in terms of supporting the Hospital.”

Gratitude

The Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor Foundation topped $1,000,000 in revenue in 2018-19 making it the most successful year in more than a decade. Revenue was up as a result of support for the ‘Put Yourself in the Picture’ campaign, the Car or Cash for Health Care Raffle, the Mississippi Mills River Run and Walk and several legacy gifts.


“We could not be happier with last year’s results,” said Foundation Board Chair Rob Scott. “So far almost $379,000 has been transferred to the Hospital and Manor based on invoices for the new diagnostic imaging equipment campaign. This also included other priority needs such as new operating lights for the Obstetrics operating room, new lifts for Fairview Manor and sterilization equipment for various areas in the Hospital. We’re ready to transfer another $250 to $300,000 as soon as the Hospital requests it towards the diagnostic imaging campaign and for pieces such as new anesthesia machines.”


Paul and Rhonda Virgin’s co-leadership of the campaign was seen on several fronts including a gift of $20,000 from Canada Life Insurance and $13,500 received from the Dustin Littau Memorial Golf Tournament.


The success of the Car or Cash for Health Care Raffle was a major factor. Our partnership with the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital Foundation worked extremely well and we received tremendous support from volunteers representing both organizations to sell so many tickets. Keith Bean of Bean Auto’s generous donation of the grand prize car allowed each hospital to net almost $50,000.


A new committee took over coordination of the annual Mississippi Mills River Run and Walk. Under Foundation Vice Chair Julie Munro’s energetic leadership, this dedicated group of volunteers put together the most successful event to date raising $35,000.


“The Hospital and Fairview Manor count on funds provided by the community through the Foundation to purchase replacement or new patient/resident care equipment,” said President and CEO Mary Wilson Trider.  “The provincial government funds the operating costs such as wages and medical supplies but does not provide dollars for our priority equipment needs.  On behalf of our patients and residents, thank you to our generous donors whose gifts help to ensure that they can receive high quality care close to home.”
