The Board of Directors of the AGH-FVM Foundation has appointed veteran fundraiser Al Roberts as the Foundation’s Managing Director. He will join Development Co-ordinator Louise Beckinsale on July 6 and looks forward to meeting hospital and manor staff and volunteers, community supporters and local business leaders.

Al brings 30 years of marketing, communications and fundraising experience to his new role.  He has successfully raised money for CHEO, the Ottawa Public Library and Roger’s House (with the Sens Foundation).    Recently as the Director of Philanthropy for the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation, he has focused his efforts on working with generous community members who wish to support acute care for the elderly and new equipment for Ottawa’s west-end hospital.

Married with two grown sons, Al is no stranger to the Hospital or the area.  His wife Janine has worked as a nurse in the Obstetrics department for five years.  When not working they spend a lot of time with family and friends at their cottage outside of Perth.

“Al is really looking forward to working with the residents of Almonte and the surrounding area to find ways for them to invest in the care provided by both the Hospital and Manor,” said Art Solomonian, Chair of the Foundation Board.  “He spoke at length during his interviews about how much he enjoys working with volunteers, donors, companies and organizations to find meaningful ways for them to support their local health-care providers.”

Roberts plans to spend a great deal of time during his first few months getting out and meeting local residents.  “Please make a point of introducing yourself and sharing your Hospital or Manor connection with me,” he said when asked how Hospital and Manor supporters can help him with the challenging role into which he’s coming.  To contact Al please call 613-256-2500 ext. 2297 after July 6.
